Accident Summary

PRELIMINARY: Two snowmobilers were riding near Cooper Landing, on the Kenai Peninsula. Snowmobiler 1 "witnessed an avalanche" cover his friend, Snowmobiler 2. Using an avalanche transceiver, Snowmobiler 1 located and dug out his companion. Other people in the area assisted in the rescue. Snowmobiler 2 was flown by helicopter to a hospital but did not survive.
