Caption: CAIC forecasters traveled in the southern half of the La Plata Mountains to get a pulse and status check on the snowpack. Most recent storm accumulated around a foot of low-density snow that wasn't a big enough load to tip the scale. A mostly weak, faceted snowpack exist near and below treeline and it will struggle to support a big, quick load or prolonged stormy period with steady winds.
