Berthoud Pass, 90s
Ridgeline Wind Speed:
Ridgeline Wind Direction:
Depth of Total Snow:
Obscured, breaking some in the afternoon.
Little to no precip, but hard to tell with all the transport and blowing snow.
Wind effected snow near and below treeline was surprising soft.Heavy, creamy consistency rather than hard and brittle.
5-15 cm of wind effected snow on the surface of all exposed slopes. Easy shears on recent snow below, but there was little strength to the slab. CTE-M Q3, and ECTs just broke through the slab.
Mild temps last week put a spongy crust on the old snow surface. It was very rough in the heavily trafficked areas, and nonreactive in untracked areas.
