Snowpit on a northeast-facing slope at treeline. A harder storm layer sits above the crust, facet combination and we observed slightly easier failures in our stability test as compared to a pit further down and in the near treeline elevation band. South San Juan. 11/25/20. (full)
2 to 3 mm facets lurking at the ground. This layer varies in thickness and distribution but we commonly found it on northwest, north, and northeast-facing slopes near and above treeline. La Plata Mountains, South San Juan. 11/10/20. (full)
