It happen so fast. Once boarder 2,3 we’re starting to cross. We heard a loud collapse and immediately started sliding. No delay. Boarder 1, 2 and 3 were all caught. Boarder 1 went about 260’ and was able to get out of slide. While skier 2,3 went for about 480’ both partially buried up to Chest. Slide path was about 600’ long x 150’ wide. 6’ crown. Everyone was ok and no gear was lost.
Parked at Ironton Park at 7:45am. 3 Splitboarders. Went up the Albany approach. Once at 12,000ft decided to go up from there to gain ridge line. Took a steep WNW ramp. Above Albany gulch. Once we were more than half way up noticed things were getting steeper and decided to space out. Crossed a cross loaded pocket at about 12,400’. Skier 1 was more than 3/4 across, when Boarder 2 decided to start and was then followed by boarder 3… Before this we had no observation on weak snow, collapsing or cracking snow.
