Social Media Community Guidelines 

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center's social media channels are intended to share avalanche forecasts, safety information, and related outreach. Comments are welcome and this space is moderated as a limited public forum. Moderation is applied consistently and without regard to viewpoint.

We ask that you keep your comments and posts clean, maintaining a family-friendly environment. Please, follow our posting guidelines. If you don’t comply with our community guidelines, your message will be removed. It is at the discretion of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center to remove inappropriate content, and to ban and remove repeat offenders. 

Community Guidelines

  • You engage with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center's social media accounts at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, or any information provided.
  • Graphic, obscene, explicit, and bigoted comments will not be tolerated. We do not allow comments that are abusive, hateful or intended to defame others or any organization.
  • Solicitations or advertisements are not allowed. This includes promotion or endorsement of any commercial non-government agency.
  • We do not allow comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity.
  • The appearance of external links on the Colorado Avalanche Information Center's social media channels does not constitute official endorsement on behalf of CO DNR.

Note: Content on CAIC social media, including removed comments, may be retained as public record. If you believe your comment was removed in error, please contact caic@state.co.us.
