Observation Summary

9:30-12:30 on site, more new snow than expected, way less wind than expected, little to no slab formation.

Area Description

Did a few laps above the road, including trees on the right and left side of the main bowl.

Route Description

Hidden Valley, RMNP, main route following the creek.

Snowpack

Cracking: None
Collapsing: None

3-4 inches of new snow around 9:30am, which outperformed forecast. Generally no signs of wind slab formation. A few small, isolated spots showed a bit of cohesion in the new snow, maybe about 1" thick. For the vast majority of terrain, new snow seemed to stay loose and not cohesive.

Weather

Periods of heavy snow, interspersed with periods of nearly no snow. Generally low winds, with minimal signs of wind transport. Temps were high 20's. Skies were overcast.
