Report Information

Observation Summary

Upon emerging from a small glade, I reached a rollover where a relatively steep section begins and immediately observed the runout from a small avalanche—most likely comprised only of snow from the storm the night before as the crown was about 6 to 8 inches (15-20cm). This was around 11:30 a.m. I had been in the same area about an hour earlier (approximately 10:30 a.m.) and had not observed any obvious signs of instability. The only notable observation was that the temperature had increased considerably from morning to lunchtime.

Route Description

Skinned the typical Caribou Hill approach to the mine. Skinned to the top near Bald Mountain and transitioned where most everyone transitions. Descended skiers right through the trees to the only notably steep area (30+ degrees) near the mine.
