Report Information
The snowpack where I traveled was between 60 cm and 120 cm deep, with about 30 to 40 cm from the last storm. BTL, the new snow is still about 4F hard, and ski penetration is 20-30 cm. At NTL, the snowpack is more affected by wind, with a thin wind crust at the snow surface in some areas where the wind was stripping the snow.
While I was traveling, the winds were still blowing snow. However, about half was lost to sublimation, and half was deposited lower on the slope.
a quick req trip
South Diamon Peak, East aspect, BTL, and NTL
I climbed west on Diamon Peak's east aspect from the car park to above the tree line and returned on a similar route.
Snowpack
The only sign of instability was two small avalanches almost completely covered by wind-blown snow. The snowpack where I traveled seems stable with ECTN in my snowpit at NTL. I did not travel into areas with obvious slab formation or slope steeper than 35 deg.
Weather
Strong winds blowing snow onto the east aspects from ridge tops.
