Observation Summary
At Bear Lake Trailhead there were strong winds coming primarily from the West. On the standard summer trail to Nymph Lake there were patches of trail with drifted snow. On the standard summer trail above Nymph Lake the trail was obscured with newly wind transported snow. The first snowshoer crossing a steeper slope was breaking trail when they triggered an avalanche. The first, second, and third snowshoers in the party were caught and carried. One person was buried to their knees, the other two were not buried at all.
