Report Information
My son and I went out to North Fooses to ski an east facing bowl I have skied many times over the past 20 years. It was pretty warm, bluebird, light winds. I dropped the bowl first and chose a line on the shoulder of the main bowl next to some trees. I was on a splitboard. I cut the top of the run on a convexity and got no response so I dropped in. On my third turn my son felt the entire area collapse and a fracture propagated to my right across the entire bowl. Estimated distance of 200 yards +/-. My son yelled to me and I cut into the trees above a cliff band and was never caught in the slide. The bowl appears to have slid to the ground. I got below the debris and skinned back up through a saddle.
We traveled out the crest trail to North Fooses drainage.
