Report Information
Observation Summary
Skiing in the Eiseman Hut zone on 20241228, I remote triggered a D1.5, R3 avalanche on a due west facing slope at 11,400ft from approximately 200m away. Cracking and rippling were apparent along the ridge from our ski tracks toward where the first crown appeared (right of image), which then propagated left. No injuries or skiers caught.
No other class I obs were encountered throughout the day NTL/BTL, despite easy hand sheers on multiple aspects/elevations on the old snow/new snow interface (2mm facets). Below the new snow from 20241227 and 20241228 is a pervasive crust throughout the zone.
