Report Information
Observation Summary
Used some test slopes on the way to our objective above Sky Pond to confirm a wind slab problem we are dealing with. Approaching the final roll over to Sky Pond we noticed it was currently loading. We safely triggered a slide on the slope. The slide was propagated about 75 yards across and ran no more than 100 yards down the hill. A mountain goat looked as we triggered looking puzzled. We also observed the debris an old wind or storm slab avalanche from across the valley.
Route Description
Toured up to the from bear lake parking lot through the loc Val to the Taylor peak ramp. Found a wind loaded slope on the final approach to Sky Pond and triggered a wind slab avalanche.
