Observation Summary
Snowpack collapsed with a ‘whoomph’ as skier 1 ski cut a rocky entrance section of ‘deep and dangerous’. Avalanche released about 60 feet above skier 1. Skier 2 was posted on a bench above skier 1 and watched the avalanche release. Skier 1 was able to take cover under a large rock. Skier 1 transitioned to skins and both skiers skinned back to Telluride ski resort.
