Report Information
We observed the avalanche and dug a snow pit on a nearby adjacent slope with the same aspect and elevation.
While in our snow pit we experienced a significant whump and collapse most likely caused by one of our party performing a ski-pen measurement.
Steep hill just North East of the Hut
Our group went to investigate an avalanche reported to us by another group staying at the Broome Hut. The group reported a significant whump and we believe they most likely remotely triggered the avalanche.
Avalanche
This avalanche occurred just NE of the Broome Hut in First Creek. We believe another group at the hut remotely triggered the avalanche based on how close their skin track was to the avalanche. (The group’s tracks were found in conservative terrain.)
