Report Information
We had one audible whoomph down in the flats of the basin when 3 people were on 1 sled. Aprx 11am. About two hours before triggering the avalanche. We noted limited sloughing on the north face we were skiing. We had agreed to stop skiing due to growing avalanche concern from the heat. Observed a small natural slough on the west face that ended up sliding 1 hour later. Likely contributed to over loading the slope.
Minniehaha basin. West facing.
3 snowmobile assisted backcountry skiers in minniehaha basin. 1 snowmobile went onto the bench below Emery Peak, where sleds had previously travelled earlier in the day.
Avalanches
West face of Emery peak slid after 1 snowmobiler drove onto the upper bench onto a previously established snowmobile track. . Sled was approx 800ft away from the avalanche crown and was descending the bench when snow started moving. Was able to outrun it without a problem. Sympathetic release occurred on the South West face of Emery approx 300ft from the main slide.
