Report Information
Wildly varying snow conditions throughout the day but across the board the snow pack seemed to have little structure. Hoping off my sled at elevations less than 10,500 resulted in boot penetration around a meter into warm snow.
Dug a pit on a east aspect on the ridge between east coal creek and orno peak. CT resulted in failure upon isolation - CTv at ground. Roughly 200cm of rightside up snow varrying between 4F and 1F hardness except for very weak facets (F-) at ground with no cohesion.
Did not see or hear any signs of instability while either skiing or riding. Would assume that due to the depth of snow pack the weight of machine/ skier was not enough to cause collapsing or settling, still spooky to see the column fail upon isolation.
Rode snowmobile from the end of Bear River Road to Yamcolo and into the East Fork of Coal Creek. Ski toured towards Orno Peak
