Report Information
HS-ASr-R1-D1 - Chicago Ridge South Aspect - >TL roughly 12,000'
While patrolling at Ski Cooper, I noted the "north cornice" area of Chicago Ridge had loaded up after predominant N/NW flow over the past several weeks. Mentioned the morning of the release that it would probably run naturally within a week, most likely with the next loading event arriving Fri-Sat (17th-18th). Kept an eye on it periodically throughout the day with no activity through 1500. Then around 1545 two skiers exited from the North Basin gate from the ridge towards the triple lift at Ski Cooper. Went back up top of Cooper hill and me and another patroller noted the slide and new tracks lookers right of the area in question with a skin track also apparent towards ridgeline. The slide released between 1500-1600. Unable to confirm that the avalanche was triggered by those skiers remotely or if it released naturally, but due to the many reports of remote triggering across the central mountains and on similar aspects since the holiday period, and that area not sliding until those tracks were put in mid-afternoon, I decided to code it ASr instead N.
