Observation Summary

Saw an avalanche adjacent to the Mayflower Gulch cabins at approximately 39.41266, -106.14727. Dug a pit at approximately 39.42749, -106.14967 at 11,890 ft on a W/SW aspect. 60-65cm snow depth. Column Test #1 - CTV approx 17cm from surface. Column Test #2 - 6 taps approx 15cm from surface. ECT #1 - ECTN12 approx 27cm from surface. ECT #2 - ECTN6 approx 15cm from surface. There was a little bit of depth variability where we were at but the profile was approx 60-45cm fist, 45-32cm finger, 32-19cm fist, 19-17cm four finger, 19cm-0cm fist. The most obvious problem layer we identified was about 15cm deep.

Route Description

Skinned up to the Mayflower Hill ridgeline. Dug a pit at approximately 39.42749, -106.14967 at 11,890 ft on a W/SW aspect. Descended low angle W/SW back to the main trail junction. Skinned up to the Mayflower Gulch cabins and then descended the main trail back to the parking lot.
