Getting a better look at the very large avalanche that failed between 2:10 and 2:20 P.M. on February 28, 2025 near Sievers Mountain above West Maroon Creek.

The avalanche likely failed as water percolated to the weak layer on the southeast-facing aspect of the bowl feature and then propagated over a thousand feet across the slope into a dry snowpack on the northeast-facing aspect of the bowl. |
