Report Information
Observation Summary
Numerous natural and remotely-triggered avalanches with the largest breaking up to 3 feet deep. We experienced several audible collapses on slopes facing the north half of the compass. Storm snow in this area was around 2 feet deep at lower elevations and 3 feet deep in drifted areas above about 11,500 feet. Very touchy conditions, and we avoided nearly all slopes over 30 degrees.

Snowpack
Cracking:
Moderate
Collapsing:
Moderate
The snowpack held up better than expected to this significant load but the weak layers under the storm snow are fragile and not to be trusted. Avalanche will generally break 2 to three feet in this area.
